Our Story

The Israel Resource Center began with a dream held by Rabbi Shaya Kilimnick -- that his vast collection of Israel related articles, maps & books, which for years were stored away in boxes and filing cabinets, be shared and made available to anyone wishing to learn about Israeli history, geography, culture, society, innovation, and more.

In order to make Rabbi Shaya's  dream a reality, the Israel Resource Center (IRC) was founded in 2016 by a group of passionate community volunteers, and together they have grown the Rochester, NY based nonprofit to include the center's physical library, digitized materials from Rabbi's collection, and an online database of resources. In addition, The IRC offers teen opportunities, special projects and contests such as our student internship and independent study programs in partnership with local public high schools, and the Rube Goldberg Machine teen challenge in partnership with the Israeli Technion.

Rabbi Shaya & Nechie Kilimnick, who served as spiritual leaders of Congregation Beth Sholom for over 40 years, have inspired many with their profound love of Israel and dedication to youth education.
